‘Abducted’ woman in Kerala found with paramour

She called her husband to tell him some people had barged in and were about to abduct her and their child

Thiruvananthapuram: The police in Kerala called the bluff of a woman who claimed she had been abducted along with her three-year-old son. She was instead found with her paramour.

The incident was reported from Chittarickal in Kasaragod district, where Kaithavelil Manu’s wife, Meenu and her young son were “missing” since Friday morning.

Just before she disappeared, the woman had phoned her husband to tell him some people had barged into their home and were about to abduct her and their son. After that, her phone was unreachable.

Police were suspicious about the claim, and the bluff was called when Meenu was spotted at the Kozhikode railway station along with her paramour Binu, who hails from Cherupuzha.

Meenu left her home in disarray, with things tossed around, to give the impression that the ‘gang’ had used physical force while abducting her. When her husband rushed home after getting her “emergency” call, he found the house in a mess and informed the police.

Local residents also joined in the search for Meenu. A police team and forensic experts also examined the house. Following mobile data records, they soon apprehended the runaway wife and her lover.
