ADP signs MoU with University of Rome Tor Vergata

ABU DHABI, 28th June, 2018 (WAM) — The General Command of the Abu Dhabi Police, ADP, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the University of Rome Tor Vergata in the area of academic and training cooperation.

The MoU was signed by Major General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, Director-General of the ADP, and Professor Giuseppe Novelli, President and Legal Advisor of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

The signing was followed by the handing out of graduation certificates to the first batch of ADP graduates, at the headquarters of the ADP General Command.

Major General Al Sharifi said that the MoU will focus on strengthening the current cooperation and communication between both sides in training and education related to safely handling dangerous substances, as well as on exchanging information, knowledge and expertise and benefitting from various relevant activities.

He also highlighted the ADP’s efforts to develop and train its members through ongoing education and training, as well as to enhance their academic knowledge and enable them to gain technical and practical expertise, in cooperation with specialist international academic institutions.

Al Sharifi praised the ADP’s cooperation with the university, which has a good reputation, offers high-level education and training, and includes scientific departments that specialise in training and educating members of specialist authorities on the latest methods of dealing with chemical, biological and other dangerous substances, under supervision of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, NATO.

Major General Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Director of the Central Operations Sector at the ADP, said that the five graduates of the first batch come from various ranks and are responsible for dealing with dangerous substances, under the Emergency and Public Safety Department.

He also praised their efforts to attain their Master’s degrees with honours and highlighted the ADP’s pride for their achievements while noting that they are the first specialist team in the country and the Middle East that specialises in treating chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear challenges, CBRNE.

Novelli praised the cooperation between the university and the ADP while noting that the MoU would strengthen their efforts to provide specialist academic programmes for the ADP’s members.
