ABU DHABI, 4th February 2018 (WAM) – Two events focussed on agriculture and food security open tomorrow at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC, bringing participants and exhibitors from around the world together to examine innovations in the food industry.
VIV Middle East and Africa, VIV MEA, the first event of its kind, is aimed at producers of animal protein in the Middle East and Africa, linking them to other companies involved in the food production chain.
Described as a ‘Feed to Food’ show, it is designed to service the poultry, aquaculture and dairy industries in the Middle East and Africa.
Running alongside VIV MEA is the Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture, GFIA. Providing enough safe, nutritious food to a growing population is one of the greatest challenges facing the world today, the Forum’s organisers say.
The food and agricultural sectors are central to eradicating hunger and poverty, but current farming practices and climate change are putting pressure on the world’s natural resources. To discuss ways of dealing with these challenges, the Forum will bring together public decision-makers, private sector champions and civil society leaders who develop and catalyse innovations for sustainable agriculture. No single organisation has the ability to solve these challenges, but innovation and cooperation across business, politics, academia and civil society are critical to change systems at scale and to bring about a food-secure future, the organisers say.
The two events, running side-by-side, are being held from 5th-7th February.
