Aircraft Captain – Dubai, United Arab Emirates


Job Purpose:


An aircraft captain’s first responsibility is the safety of the aircraft, passengers, crew, and cargo. Before each flight the captain, along with an airline flight dispatcher and meteorologist, makes a flight plan that covers fuel supply, aircraft weight, weather, route, and alternate destination. Prior to taking off, the pilot checks that the aircraft is working properly, briefs crew members, verifies take-off procedures, and receives take-off permission from air traffic control. In-flight, the pilot, with the assistance of the co-pilot, or first officer, and any additional cockpit crew needed performs most of the functions necessary to fly the aircraft to the destination and completes a report upon landing.
 

Principal Accountabilities

·         Prior to taking off, the captain checks that the plane is working properly, briefs crew members, verifies take-off procedures, and receives take-off permission from air traffic control.

·         In flight, the pilot, with the assistance of the co-pilot, or first officer, and any additional cockpit crew needed performs most of the functions necessary to fly the aircraft to the destination and completes a report upon landing.

·         Ensure all information on the route, weather, passengers, and aircraft is received.

·         Use this information to create flight plans.

·         Keeping the aircraft logbook up to date.

·         Making regular checks on aircraft’s technical performance, pre-flight safety checks on navigation and operating systems.

·         Directing all aspects of flight planning, documenting aircraft and operational compliance to company and GCAA/CAA standards and regulations.

·         Manage emergencies and coordinate with emergency support agencies.

·         Liaising with and directing team interactions involving mechanics, ground crew, ATC and airport operations.

·         Managing a team including flight deck crew, cabin and ground crew coordination.

·         Maintain proficiency throughout consistent training programs.

·         Multi-tasking, analyzing information, prioritizing problems and achieving objectives during an ever-changing, fast-paced working environment.
 

Minimum Requirements

·         5 Years and more flying experience of Airbus.

·         A Type rating on A318/A319/A320 required.

·         Must have GCAA license

·         VIP/VVIP experience preferred
