DUBAI, 8th April, 2018 (WAM) — The Al Maktoum Foundation has donated AED300,000 to support the Zayed University Student Solidarity Fund.
Mirza Al Sayegh, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation and Director of the Office of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, handed the donation cheque to Prof. Reyadh Al Mehaideb, Vice-President of Zayed University, with Massoud Saleh, Representative of the Foundation, in attendance.
Al Mehaideb praised the foundation’s work, which is part of the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, especially its annual contributions to the fund, which aims to provide financial assistance and loans to underprivileged students. He also praised its encouragement to students to excel in academic and cultural areas, through its financial rewards and awards.
He added that the fund also provides scholarships for students and supports their participation in international conferences, competitions and events, to enable them to keep pace with current developments and be open to the world.
Al Sayegh highlighted the desire of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid, who is the patron of the foundation, to support universities, and his directives to personally offer annual support to institutions, which include Zayed University, and assist their students, to enable them to continue their role in advancing the country’s educational and scientific development.
He added that this year’s beneficiaries include the British University in Dubai, Zayed University, the University of Sharjah, the Higher Colleges of Technology, Abu Dhabi University, Future Centre in Abu Dhabi and UAE University.
