Al Qattara Arts Centre launches exhibition exploring eras of fashion illustration

ABU DHABI, 16th March, 2018 (WAM) — Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the ‘Lines and Stitches’ exhibition opened on Thursday at Al Qattara Arts Centre in Al Ain, featuring 21 paintings and 8 drawings by UAE based designers and artists.

The exhibition, which runs until 14th June, is free and open to all members of the public, and highlights the enduring nature of this artform, and its ability to capture the essence of an era, community, and society. The exhibition traces the creative development from an initial concept through to illustrative design and showcases this artforms growing popularity in the UAE.

Lines and Stitches also outlines the wide variety of styles used by artists and designers to introduce innovative fashion styles, and patterns that have special technical specifications even before they are applied to fabrics. The exhibition also introduces digital techniques and tools used in the fashion world such as digital design, animation, and applications. It also features workshops by fashion illustrators and designers starting March 24th for the duration of the exhibition.
