Homaid Al Shemmari is expected to be named the acting chief executive of energy at Mubadala.
Mr Al Shemmari will take over the position as Sultan Al Jaber transitions into his new role as director general of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc). Mubadala, an Abu Dhabi investment company with assets of US$65.9 billion covering 11 sectors including oil and gas and renewables, is backed by the Abu Dhabi Government.
While overseeing the group’s energy portfolio, which includes Dolphin Energy and renewables unit Masdar, Mr Al Shemmari will retain his current position and responsibilities as chief executive of Mubadala’s aerospace and engineering services division.
He is a member of the boards of both Mubadala Petroleum and Masdar.
Prior to joining Mubadala, Mr Al Shemmari was a lieutenant colonel in the UAE Armed Forces, with roles in military aviation, maintenance, procurement and logistics.
Mr Al Jaber, who is also chairman of Masdar, was announced as the new head of Adnoc earlier this month. His other titles include UAE Minister of State and the chairman of the Abu Dhabi Ports Company.
