Arab Bank for Investment and Foreign Trade donates AED1.7 million to Zakat Fund

ABU DHABI, 15th April, 2018 (WAM) — The Arab Bank for Investment and Foreign Trade donated AED1.7 million to the Zakat Fund, as part of the responsibility of banks in the UAE to provide zakat money to eligible beneficiaries through the Zakat Fund, by supporting its charity and humanitarian projects.

The donation took place during a meeting between Abdullah Aqeeda Al Muhairi, Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund, Nabil Tayeb Al Khouri, Islamic Banking Services Advisor to the Bank, and several of the bank’s officials.


Al Muhairi praised the bank’s donation, which is the first zakat donation from a bank during the Year of Zayed 2018, while adding that the zakat reflects the bank’s desire to support social solidarity.

Al Khouri highlighted the fund’s humanitarian and charity role, as well as its social and charity projects around the country. The fund was founded by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and is supported by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, he added.

The bank will also maintain its ongoing partnership with the fund, to create new payment channels for the zakat of its customers, Al Khouri said.
