Avoid road closures: Dubai Airport issues warning to travellers

Dubai Airports officials suggest alternative routes for early Friday morning closures

Officials have asked customers travelling to and from Dubai International Airport on Friday to allow extra time to reach the airport due to scheduled road closures.

DUBAI: Officials with Dubai Airports are warning customers travelling to and from Dubai International Airport on Friday to allow extra time to reach the airport due to scheduled road closures.

Between the hours of 4am and 8am on Friday the exit lane from Terminal 1, leading to the bridge towards Garhoud / Dubai, will be closed in order to install the new gantry road sign.

Alternative routes are being suggested, said Dubai Airports in a statement to avoid any traffic logjams in the immediate vicinity of the airport.

In the first alternative option, travellers are advised to follow the signs towards Rashidiya as they exit from Terminal 1, then follow the signs that will lead traffic Via 51st St at the back of Le Meridian Airport Hotel onto Casablanca St, northbound, then take the U-turn at the Junction with Airport Rd, southbound on Casablanca St to Garhoud/Dubai.

A second option is for visitors to follow the signs towards Rashidiya as you exit from Terminal 1, then follow the signs to Terminal 1 and then onto Airport Rd, West Bound, turning left, southbound onto Casablanca St at the junction.

The closure will be for approximately four hours, after which the exit and road will be fully accessible once again.
