Boy, 3, revived after near-death experience in Dubai

Dubai: A three-year-old boy narrowly escaped death after his heart stopped beating for a few minutes.

An official at the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) said that on the first day of Eid, June 15, 2018, the operations room received a distressed call about a young boy who drowned in a swimming pool.

Paramedics rushed to the residential building located in Motor City, and found that the young boy was unconscious and without a pulse.

Emergency Technician Mohammad Mohsen Al Kafali, said: “The child’s heart was not beating and his breathing stopped, which meant that the boy’s life was in danger.”

Emergency medical responders arrived at the scene within three minutes, and immediately carried out cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). A tracheal tube was also inserted in the child’s airway.

The young boy was soon brought back to a regular heartbeat, and was transferred to Saudi German Hospital for further medical attention.

“The paramedic team’s combined efforts and timely arrival contributed greatly to the child’s rescue,” said Al Kafali.

He also stressed that parents should never leave their children alone at pools or at the beach to avoid such kinds of accidents from happening.

“Parents should be cautious and make sure their children are always accompanied by people who know how to swim, and that lifeguards are present in the area in case of an emergency,” he said.
