Dubai Down Syndrome Centre opens

DUBAI, 11th May, 2019 (WAM) — A new centre to improve the quality of life for children and adolescents with Down Syndrome has opened in the Emirate of Dubai.

The Dubai Down Syndrome Centre, inaugurated by Hessa Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, was founded to offer 5-18-year-old Down syndrome students with a safe environment where they can learn life, social and independence skills, empowering them to become active members of the community.

The minister toured the centre’s facilities and was introduced to the education mechanisms and tools applied to enrich the students’ experiences.

The centre’s educational team is comprised of occupational and speech therapists and teachers specialising in art, music, drama, and physical educational.
