EGA hosts Western Australia Premier at Jebel Ali

ABU DHABI, 4th March, 2018 (WAM) — Emirates Global Aluminium, EGA, has received Mark McGowan, Premier of Western Australia, and his delegation at Jebel Ali.

The delegation was met by Dr. Ali Al Zarouni, Executive Vice President of Midstream Operations at EGA, where they were taken on a site tour of the EGA smelter in Jebel Ali, and briefed on its operations, and environmental and safety performance EGA has sourced alumina, the feedstock for aluminium smelters, from Western Australia since EGA’s operations began in 1979. Today, EGA buys over half its alumina from companies in Western Australia.

“We have built strong relationships with our suppliers in Western Australia over almost four decades, and this trade is an important part of the economic relationship between the UAE and Australia. Our cooperation has created economic opportunity in both countries, and we are always looking for how we can extend this value creation for mutual benefit. We are grateful for the support of Premier McGowan and the Government of Western Australia and look forward to continued cooperation with companies in his state in the future,” Dr. Al Zarouni said.
