Emirates Post takes part in Innovation Month

ABU DHABI, 11th February, 2018 (WAM) — The Emirates Post Group, EPG, launched its activities for the UAE’s Innovation Month yesterday with a ceremony at the Abu Dhabi Central Post Office. The month began on 1st February on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

The EPG’s programme was inaugurated by Ahmed Al Badi, the Group’s CEO of Innovation and Senior Director of IT Applications.

The month, Al Badi said, will contribute to fostering creativity and a culture of innovation in the UAE, which is already ranked first in the Arab world and among the top 10 most innovative rankings in the 2017 Global Innovation Index. The events, taking place during the ‘Year of Zayed’, he added, will contribute to commemorating the role of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in empowering Emirati citizens, and enhancing their capabilities in innovation.

“Innovation,” he told EPG employees, “is an intrinsic part of our job, starting with adopting the latest technologies and industry methods to provide enhanced services that achieve customer happiness. This month’s initiatives aim to instil a culture of innovation which would be reflected in our day to day operations as well as our future plans.”

Abdullah Mohammed Al Ashram, Acting CEO of EPG, commented in a statement that “In the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, ‘Innovative approach is not a complementary tool or a transitional need, but the basis of the evolution and progress of nations. So, we adopt it as a key engine to bring about positive changes in the community.’ “

“Emirates Post Group aims to spread the culture of innovation and make it a daily practice,” Al Ashram said. “The innovation events planned are organised within the framework of the Group’s vision to provide innovative postal solutions, logistics and financial services to achieve happiness and leadership. Our strategy is to keep up with the latest developments in the postal sector and create an environment conducive to innovation, thereby transforming it into an everyday work approach and practice.”

The events are being planned in cooperation with some of its partners, universities, and educational institutions. EPG is also planning a series of brainstorming sessions to encourage stakeholders, including customers, partners, employees, university students, and community members, to provide innovative ideas and suggestions to enhance offerings, upgrade services, and contribute to promoting customer happiness.
