Empower CEO to participate in IDEA Campus Energy

DUBAI, 4th March, 2018 (WAM) — Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation, Empower, will attend the IDEA Campus Energy conference 2018 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, which begins on Monday.

Bin Shafar will also attend the Board meeting of International District Energy Association, IDEA, which will be held alongside the conference. He is the first Arab and Emirati member of the Board since 2013. He confirmed that the UAE and Dubai have come a long way in the fields of district cooling and sustainability. This has helped Empower maintain its leading position in the global district cooling sector.

The conference ‘Sharing Solutions, Sustaining our Future’, addresses a number of topics related to renewable energy, environment and sustainable development. It highlights the phenomenon of global warming, and smart solutions in district cooling and facilities planning, as well as environmental challenges and ways to fix them, in addition to workshops and technical presentations in renewable energy.

“Through our participation in the conference and the Board meeting, Empower confirms its strategy and keenness to adopt the latest district cooling solutions in the world. Dubai is at the top of the list of global cities that use and produce district cooling systems. This event is an opportunity to review Dubai’s experience in district cooling, and to learn about various international experiences in using clean energy, and the best solutions in conservation of energy,” said Bin Shafar.

During his visit, Bin Shafar will hold meetings with directors of various organisations in this field. He will review Dubai’s pioneering experience in district cooling systems, highlight successful and best practices that can be applied in cities globally, and shed light on effective policies and applications for attracting investment, and developing and operating district energy projects.
