Engaging with future: ICTUS conference addressed by CEO of DIC

As Dubai emerges the global leader in using smart technologies to improve services and infrastructure, Amity University Dubai, in association with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), organized a three day International Conference on Infocom Technologies and Unmanned Systems (ICTUS) at its Campus in Dubai today.  From Internet of Things (IoT) to Man Machine Interface (MMI) to Artificial Intelligence (IA) to Big Data Analytics (BDA), speakers passionately talked about how new technologies are helping us engage with a future full of opportunities and challenges.

The Conference, which was addressed by Ammar Al Malek, Managing Director of the Dubai Internet City and Dubai Outsource City, provided a common platform to leading scientists, academicians, researchers, government officials, practicing engineers, industry professionals and students to share their research experiences and views.

In his speech Ammar Al Malek said that Dubai has become the hub for innovation and enterprise and Information communication technology is at the heart of all our efforts to improve the quality of life. He said that focus on change demands more sustainable partnerships between the industry and academia and stressed the need to get local school and young minds involved in this process. He added that Dubai Internet City today not only hosts all major Computer technology groups like Microsoft, Oracle, Google, CISCO and IBM but is providing a comprehensive ecosystem for disruptive companies like Hyper lube, Dubbizle, Souq.com and hundreds of startups that are defining the future of technology. He highlighted the role of dialogue and knowledge transfer for the benefit of all.

The speakers on the first day of this conference underlined the role of technology in the globally competitive environment and scientific analysis in gaining market leadership. The main themes of the programme of conference focusses Free and Open Source Software, Natural Language Processing, Cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence and Experts Systems, Data Mining and Data Warehousing, Convergence Technologies, Human-Computer Interface, Mobile Computing, Advances on Computing Mechanisms, Software and Web Engineering.

Prof. Sunil Kumar Khatri, Conference Chair and Director, Amity Institute of Information Technology, Amity University Noida, and India in his welcome speech said that with a focus on Trends and Future Directions in Artificial Intelligence, a matter of high priority of the Public Policy initiative across the Globe, which also forms the Centennial 2070 objective of United Arab Emirates. He added that speakers and delegates from 28 countries including Japan, UK, USA, UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah), Germany, Russia, Australia, Canada, India, South Africa, Croatia, Argentina, China, Hong Kong, Oman, Denmark, Pakistan, Estonia, Jordan, Sofia, Peru, Botswana, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bahrain, Turkey, Mauritius, Bangladesh and Malaysia are attending the conference.

The conference organized by Amity University Dubai in association with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Computer Society of India and Demonte font University Leicester, UK is first such conference in Dubai which has attracted over 100 professors, academics, researchers and students from around 30 countries of the world.
