ERC continues sending relief convoys to Shabwa Governorate

SHABWA, 25th February, 2019 (WAM) — The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, is continuing to send relief convoys containing food baskets, to help poor and low-income families in several districts of Shabwa Governorate, as part of its efforts to support the Yemeni people.

ERC teams also travelled to remote areas inhabited by families facing the dire and harsh situation.

Between 14th and 24th February, the ERC dispatched over 2,800 food baskets containing basic food supplies, which benefitted 16,920 individuals from families in need in Shabwa.

The food aid helped to ease their suffering, caused by their country’s deteriorating economy and rising food prices and community needs.

The beneficiaries of the aid praised the overall assistance provided by the UAE and its humanitarian arm, the ERC.

In 2019, the ERC distributed 7,092 food baskets that benefitted over 45,807 individuals.
