ABU DHABI, 14th December, 2017 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Executive Council has approved a resolution on the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Government Media Office.
A law will be issued whereby the Office shall be invested with the powers of a legal entity and have all necessary legal competences as well as the financial and administrative autonomy in all its roles and responsibilities.
The Executive Council has also approved a resolution appointing Maryam Eid Al Muhairi as the Director-General of the Office.
The new entity will co-ordinate with all relevant government departments and develop and implement media policies and plans for the local government. It will also provide the media with precise news and information related to the emirate and the government, as well as preparing and organising relevant events, including communications with all segments of society.
The establishment of the Office comes within the framework of efforts made to enhance the emirate’s media positioning at the local, regional and international levels in a way that keeps pace with its achievements at various levels.
