by Hatem Mohamed ABU DHABI, 8th May, 2018 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi establishes itself as the world’s capital of tolerance and peaceful co-existence by playing host to the World Council of Muslim Communities, said Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance.

Sheikh Nahyan made the statements while delivering the inaugural speech in the 1st International Muslim Communties Congress, IMCC, which opened in the UAE Capital today to address the challenges faced by Muslim minorities around the world.

The Supreme Organising Committee of the IMCC had announced the launch of an international organisation called “World Council of Muslim Communities” to reunite Muslim minorities in response to the demands of the Muslim World Committee following the announcement of organising the IMCC in Abu Dhabi.

“UAE adopts a forward-thinking vision based on considering that cultural pluralism and peaceful co-existence between all segments of society are prerequisites for development, progress and stability. In UAE, we are benefiting from the moderate nature of Islam to convey a message of tolerance through our media and educational institutions,” Sheikh Nahyan added.

The conference stems from the UAE’s civilisational message to promote the culture of peace and tolerance between the followers of different religions and cultures and as an effort to protect children and youth of the Muslim minorities from the currents of violence and extremism.

Rexhep Meidani, former President of the Republic of Albania, and Dr. Andreas Kiefer, Secretary-General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities – Council of Europe, are among the top dignitaries attending IMCC.
