BRUSSELS, 6th January, 2019 (WAM) — A delegation from the Federal National Council, FNC, headed by Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the FNC, will make an official visit to the European Parliament in Brussels on 7th-11th January.
The delegation will meet with the parliament’s president and leadership, as well as officials from the European Commission, to discuss issues of common interest, their current partnership, and parliamentary communications.
During the visit, the European side will learn about the UAE’s efforts to provide humanitarian aid, support refugees around the world, strengthen international security and peace, and promote parliamentary dialogue, in light of their discussions during previous visits.
The delegation will also visit the headquarters of the European Union, and attend a seminar on bilateral relations. Also, the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, will organise an exhibition on UAE’s humanitarian aid.
The seminar and exhibition are the outcome of a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, between the FNC and UAE-EU Parliamentary Friendship Group at the European Parliament, which was signed during the Group’s visit to the UAE and the FNC in October 2017.
Al Qubaisi said that, according to the “FNC Strategy 2016-2021,” the UAE parliament is determined to further promote cooperation and dialogue with international parliaments, to affirm the UAE’s stance on relevant issues and topics.
The strategy also seeks to highlight the UAE’s humanitarian, relief and development efforts, as well as its endeavours to combat terrorism and extremism, and promote tolerance and moderation throughout the region and the entire world, she added.
