DUBAI, 22nd April, 2018 (WAM) — During its meeting today at the headquarters of the Federal National Council, FNC, General Secretariat in Dubai, the FNC Financial, Economic and Industrial Affairs Committee, headed by Majid Hamad Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Committee, discussed its report on competitiveness and statistics, before approving it to present at the FNC, to review it with government representatives.
The meeting was attended by committee members Ahmed Youssef Al Nuaimi, Committee Rapporteur for the Meeting, Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Zaabi, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Meherzi and Dr. Saeed Abdullah Al Mutawa.
Al Shamsi stated that the committee reviewed its draft report and made some adjustments based upon the suggestions of representatives of concerned authorities, after holding several meetings with them. The committee will continue discussing its report during its next meeting, he added.
Al Shamsi stressed that the UAE Vision 2021 aims to make the UAE among the best countries in the world in the areas of economic competitiveness, health, education and the environment. The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority specialises in strengthening the country’s performance in the areas of international competitiveness, statistics, data and policies for vital sectors, making it a key government source of national statistics. It also aims to monitor the country’s competitive performance in international reports, he added, while pointing out that the committee will discuss the topic through five key areas.
