ABU DHABI, 28th October, 2018 (WAM) — Cooperation and integration of roles between the Federal National Council, FNC, and the UAE Government reflects the wise leadership’s directives in unifying efforts to promote society and achieve the aspirations of the UAE people, Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention and Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, asserted.
At the opening of the fourth Session of the 16th Legislative Chapter of the Federal National Council, Al Owais said that holding this session as the UAE celebrates the Year of Zayed is an occasion to celebrate the immortal achievements of the country’s Founding Father the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who always sought to empower the Council. Sheikh Zayed believed in the FNC’s pivotal role in the UAE’s political life, as well as in the ability of all FNC members to contribute positively to the service of their country and their people, he added.
The Minister said that the parliamentary process has received unlimited support from the UAE leadership, which, in turn, established the values of political participation and engagement. There have been a number of significant milestones that have also contributed to actively engaging citizens, most notable of which was the Political Empowerment Programme announced by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in 2005, and on the occasion of the UAE’s 34th National Day.
Al Owais expressed his utmost gratitude and appreciation to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses, Supreme Council Members and the Rulers of the Emirates, for their continued support for parliamentary practices in the UAE.
He also thanked Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council, Ahmed bin Shabib Al Dhaheri, FNC Secretary-General, and all Council members for their efforts to convey the aspirations of citizens and discuss the issues that matter most to them. Al Owais went on to thank Ministers and members of the Government who had been dedicated to attending the Council’s meetings during the previous sessions. He applauded the outstanding cooperation between the FNC, which discussed issues of concern for citizens, and the UAE Government, which addressed national matters with the utmost transparency, accuracy, and objectivity.
The UAE Government is committed to identifying citizens’ issues and developing appropriate plans to address them, he asserted, adding that this is reflected in the dedication and transparency on the part of Ministers who answer all FNC members’ questions, clearly demonstrating their understanding of the role of the Council in enhancing the overall performance of the Government.
Al Owais went on to laud the vital role played by the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs in enhancing coordination and complementarity between the legislative and executive branches of Government, underlining the Ministry’s keenness to devise new mechanisms and tools to facilitate communication and coordination between the UAE Government and the Federal National Council in order to empower the people of the UAE to excel in all international forums.
