ABU DHABI, 21st October, 2018 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has commended the announcement of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai on replacing the term ‘Elderly’ with ‘Senior Emiratis’, as a sign of respect to the older generation.

Sheikh Mohammed’s announcement is part of an integrated national policy that was approved on Sunday to improve the quality of their lives and ensure their continual integration and participation into the UAE community.

In his remarks on the development, Sheikh Hazza said that Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s announcement is a pioneering step that corroborates the fact that the UAE is a homeland for all regardless of age or gender.

“Respect for the older generation and honouring them is an authentic Emirati legacy instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, continuously sustained by generations and safeguarded by the law,” Sheikh Hazza added.
