Human Resources Ministry to distribute gifts to workers and organise events across country
Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation is organising a range of events and activities to celebrate the World Labour Day across the country from May 1-5.
Maher Hamad Al Obed, assistant undersecretary for Inspection Affairs at the ministry, said the ministry’s celebration of the Labour Day reflects its keenness and care given to all labour categories as a key player in the production process and partner of development in the country, while ensuring the interests of employers, leading to stability in the job market.
The ministry organises on Tuesday a celebration during which it will release the workers’ rights report and honour officials in charge of the Workers’ Happiness programme.
It will also distribute gifts and souvenirs to hundreds of domestic workers in a number of shopping centres and cooperative societies in addition to offering gifts to more than 1,000 newly-arrived workers at Dubai Airport.
Al Obed said the activities are designed to highlight the importance of entrenching the culture of social responsibility and inculcating the principles of respect for the value of work, as well as raising awareness about human values — an approach established by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the nation.
He praised the effective community role played by the ministry’s strategic partners from both the government and private sectors in celebrating the occasion.
Several events, including educational, entertainment and sports activities, will be organised for workers in various emirates.
The Minister of Tolerance’s Office is organising on Friday a grand celebration at workers’ accommodations in Yas Island to mark the Labour Day.
A number of activities that include the distribution of 8,000 prizes, 1,000 du recharge cards and 2,000 meals, will be held, in addition to awareness programmes on healthy lifestyles and sound financial planning.
The celebrations will be attended by Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance.
