ABU DHABI, 15th February, 2018 (WAM) — The National Science, Technology and Innovation, NSTI, Festival on Thursday saw the launch of the first-of-its-kind Industrial Revolution X, IR-X, Programme, developed by the Ministry of Education, in partnership with prominent local and international partners.
The launch was attended by Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, Jameela Al Muheiri, Minister of State for Public Education, Dr. Ahmad bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills, Mariam Hareb Almheiri, Minister of State, along with a number of senior educational officials and artificial intelligence experts.
IR-X is a multi-purpose programme designed to equip UAE nationals with the knowledge, skills and hands-on expertise required to keep pace with new technologies and scientific advancements globally.
IR-X 2018 is implemented in collaboration with Udacity and a number of renowned partners. It will focus on 4IR disciplines that include artificial intelligence, deep learning, machine learning, the Internet of Things, self-driving cars, robotics and blockchain.
Consisting of three core tracks Entrepreneurship, Research, and Employment IR-X plays an integral role in building a knowledge-based economy and a workforce capable of meeting future market requirements.
All the tracks are open to high-achieving Emiratis in their senior year or recent graduates with a Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree.
The comprehensive IR-X 2018 programme will be a gateway to UAE higher education students to undergo a world-class journey designed to equip UAE nationals with the knowledge to launch their own start-ups and project portfolios. The event will also include the Design Thinking programme.
The National Science, Technology and Innovation Festival started on Thursday at the Dubai Festival Arena under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The festival is being organised by the Ministry of Education within the framework of the UAE Innovation Month and features a variety of initiatives that will last from 15th to 19th February, 2018.
A major initiative running alongside UAE Innovation Month, it is aimed at promoting and creating a passion for science, technology, innovation and scientific research among students and the UAE community.
The festival is bringing together the entire community through a variety of elements that celebrate science, innovation and arts in a vibrant, creative, innovative and entrepreneurial environment.
