Leaders receive copies of ‘Umm Kulthum in Abu Dhabi’

Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces on Monday received His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at Al Bahr Palace.

They exchanged views on a number of national topics that concern the nation and citizens, in order to achieve sustainable development and strengthen the UAE’s position on the global arena under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Meanwhile, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid and Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed received two copies of the book “Umm Kulthum in Abu Dhabi’ by Mohammad Al Murr, deputy chairman of the National Archive.

The book is one of the new historical publications on display at the 28th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2018, to mark the ‘Year of Zayed’, in line with the directives of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

‘Umm Kulthum in Abu Dhabi’ chronicles an important phase in the UAE’s modern cultural history.

The book covers the visit of latest iconic Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum, dubbed the ‘Star of the East’ to the UAE in 1971 at an invitation by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan on the occasion of his fifth Accession Day.

The iconic singer gave two concerts in Abu Dhabi, on November 28 and 30.

Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Mansour, Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain, and other Shaikhs and senior officials were present.
