Mansour bin Zayed approves names of winners for Khalifa Award for Education

ABU DHABI, 28th March, 2019 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Council of Trustees of the Khalifa Award for Education, approved the names of the winners in the 12th edition of the award 2018-2019 from within the country and the rest of the Arab world.

Sheikh Mansour also approved the Educational Personality of the Year award for this edition for Sheikha Azza bint Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director-General of the Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Charity Foundation, in appreciation of her efforts to support the education system and elevating this vital sector’s journey.

He also adopted the granting of the award in the Excellent Emirati Family category to four such families, in appreciation of their efforts to support the educational process.


Amal Al Afifi, Secretary-General of the Khalifa Award for Education, asserted the award’s pride and honour in carrying a name that is precious in the hearts of everyone, that of its sponsor, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who accords education the utmost importance as it is concerned with building generations and investing in people considered the most precious of the nation’s resources.

Al Afifi praised the support the education sector received from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and their brothers, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.

She stated that since its launch in 2007, the Khalifa Award for Education has represented a quality leap in spreading the culture of excellence in education and encouraged those working for it, in schools, institutes, higher education institutions as well as social institutions, to be creative, innovative, and to launch projects and present initiatives which are a result of the educational process locally and in the Arab world. The award is committed to the best international practices in presenting the sectors which strengthen the culture of excellence in its different editions locally and regionally. These fields vary from one edition to the next so they keep up with what the education sector is witnessing in technology and knowledge development domestically and globally.

The Secretary-General clarified that the 12th edition of the award had witnessed great efforts by its General Secretariat and the technical and specialised committees which presented programmes and held workshops to strengthen the culture of excellence in the field and encourage the nominees to engage in this edition.
