DUBAI, 22nd July, 2018 (WAM) — The Ministry of Community Development, MoCD, has stepped up its efforts in conducting educational, cultural, heritage, leisure and volunteering initiatives at its social development centres across the UAE, through the months of July and August.
Targeting more than 300 participants from all walks of life – children, youth, mothers, People of Determination (People with disabilities) and the elderly – the programmes comprise specialised lectures and interactive workshops to raise the indicators of happiness and innovation, encourage the spirit of volunteerism and solidarity in society, and ultimately strengthen cohesiveness in the community.
Interested members can register for the programmes as per their interests. The ministry is keen to implement programmes on future planning, managing small projects, and initiatives that instill a love of reading in the community. Likewise, activities and programmes that stimulate the values of volunteerism, recycling and protecting the environment, preserving the national heritage, and celebrating the achievements of the country, are on top of the ministry’s summer event calendar for 2018.
Saeed Al Khatri, general supervisor of activities of the social development centres in MoCD, said, “At the Ministry of Community Development, it is our sustained endeavor to organise activities and events that contribute to the empowerment of various segments of society through developing useful skills and providing practical experiences aligned with the goals of the National Agenda of the UAE Vision 2021.”
Reiterating the importance of extra-curricular programs during the summer season in shaping skills that promote innovation and creativity, he said that such gainful initiatives help to build the individual confidence in his or her capabilities. They also help suitably channelise energy and enable them to maximise their potential through enhancing optimism and positivity – essential attributes in building a diversified and sustainable economy.
