Mother of 2 illegal kids jailed over fake marriage

Defendant to be tried before Misdemeanours Court for having sex outside marriage and entering UAE illegally

Dubai: A mother of two children has been jailed for three months for forging marriage papers to apply for a bail when she got arrested for having sex outside marriage.

The 31-year-old Uzbek mother walked into a police station in June 2018 and surrendered herself after she delivered an illegal baby boy in 2016 as she could not issue official birth certificate and papers for him.

When questioned by police interrogators, the Uzbek woman claimed that she had also delivered a baby girl in 2015 from a man whom she claimed to be her countryman husband.

The 31-year-old woman told police interrogators that she had been married to the Uzbek man [who lived and worked in Dubai] before he later divorced her verbally and kicked her out of the house in 2016.

The mother was arrested in 2015 for delivering the baby girl without being married before the Uzbek man, who claimed to be her husband, provided the authorities with a marriage contract to be able to bail her out.

On Sunday, the Dubai Court of First Instance jailed the mother for three months for using forged marriage papers.

Presiding judge Mohammad Jamal further referred the Uzbek defendant to the Misdemeanours Court where she will be tried for having consensual sex [sex outside marriage] with a stranger, entering the country illegally and re-entering the UAE after having been deported in 2011.

When she appeared in court, the defendant pleaded not guilty.

According to Sunday’s ruling, the Uzbek mother, who has been inside Dubai Central Jail along with her two children, will be deported.

In June 2018, the mother of a two-year-old boy and three-year-old girl surrendered herself to the police where she claimed that she had not been able to process a birth certificate to her son.

When questioned by police interrogators, she said she came to Dubai on a visit visa for the first time in 2011.

She claimed that her visa expired and she returned to her country after an arrest warrant had been issued against her.

The woman told the police that she returned to the UAE illegally through Oman and stayed with a man whom she claimed to be her husband.

She delivered two children from him before he later divorced her verbally and kicked her out of the house.

The primary ruling remains subject to appeal.
