Nahyan bin Mubarak launches ‘Dubai Courts Tolerance Charter’, ‘Tolerance and Settlements Centre’

DUBAI, 15th May, 2018 (WAM) — Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Tolerance, has launched the ‘Dubai Courts Tolerance Charter’ and the ‘Tolerance and Settlements Centre’, to implement the vision of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who said that ”tolerance and the UAE are two sides of one coin, and is a key value of its people, and a cornerstone of the country’s future development.” The launch aims to promote tolerance among the entire community, to make Dubai one of the best cities in the world in terms of justice, independence and transparency and providing accessible judicial services.

The launch was attended by Taresh Al Mansouri, Director-General of the Dubai Courts, as well as heads of courts and sector directors at the department.

Sheikh Nahyan said that the UAE is following the approach of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and is keen to promote tolerance among its citizens and residents, as well as among countries and international organisations. The country has a adopted legislation to ensure justice, respect and the acceptance of others while rejecting and criminalising intolerance, he added.

During the visit, he was briefed about the charter, which is based on the National Tolerance Programme and aims to guarantee the fairness of the Dubai Courts.

He also visited the “halls of settlements and tolerance”, which were designed for meetings that include family reconciliations, inheritance settlements, employment settlements and civil settlements. The number of such meetings has reached a total of 42,623 over the past three years.

The Dubai Courts have promoted tolerance for three years and have achieved many settlements through alternative solutions that utilise tolerance, with family reconciliations numbering 12,230 cases and inheritance settlements numbering 1,530, as well as 14,820 employment settlements, 7,908 implementations settlements, and 6,135 civil settlements.

Sheikh Nahyan then toured the Innovators Club of the Dubai Courts, which aims to find innovative and realistic solutions to its challenges.

Al Mansouri said that tolerance is linked to the UAE, which is strengthening the values of tolerance, equality, dialogue and coexistence and maintaining safety and security.

He added that in light of the policy of the UAE’s leadership, the country is promoting communication, understanding and peaceful coexistence between communities while maintaining its original traditions, to establish its prominent stature as a centre of tolerance and cultural pluralism that embraces over 200 nationalities, who live together peacefully.
