ABU DHABI, 19th February, 2019 (WAM) — Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and Chairman of the National Media Council, NMC, stated that the UAE’s hosting of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference, IDEX, translates the country’s successful efforts being made over 25 years toward developing efficient national expertise and laying down a modern infrastructure, advanced defence industry sector, and an integrated system to transfer knowledge, share technologies, build capacities, increase self-reliance, and create solid foundations to ensure sustainable and comprehensive development.
In a statement about IDEX, Al Jaber said, “Thanks to an impressive global turnout and neat organisation, IDEX reflects the excellent approach adopted by the country’s wise leadership in maintaining peace, security and stability, through developing national industries in line with best international standards with the objective of turning the UAE to a global hub for innovation.”
“Our national media is a major partner in performing a pivotal role in highlighting the nation’s successes and accomplishments, with IDEX serving as an ideal platform for showcasing the UAE’s civilised image, supporting the nation’s technological advancements, and its significant role in promoting peace, security, stability, cooperation, openness and tolerance – values which are all true enablers of economic, humanitarian and social growth,” he added.
“At the National Media Council, we are following up the growing global interest in the exhibition, which is reflected in a 16 percent rise in the number of international media professionals participating in its activities as compared to last year’s edition, in addition to an 8 percent expansion in international media coverage by over 42 countries. It goes without saying that this significant growth clearly mirrors the UAE’s international stature as an ideal and sought-after destination for ensuring the success of global events,” he said in conclusion.
