One killed, eight injured in four-vehicle pile-up in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: One person died and eight others were injured in a pileup involving four vehicles in the capital, Abu Dhabi Police said on Friday.

The accident happened under the Mafraq bridge in the direction of Abu Dhabi city.

All injured were transferred to the nearby Mafraq Hospital.

On receiving the accident call, police dispatched a team including an ambulance to the accident scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the accident happened because of sudden swerving between lanes and tailgating by the motorists involved.

Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists to abide by road traffic rules and comply with the speed limits. They also asked drivers to leave sufficient distance between vehicles and avoid stopping in the middle of the road or hard shoulders.
