Pope’s visit ‘will witness the intensification of communal efforts at uniting mankind’, says Zaki Nusseibeh

ABU DHABI, 3rd February, 2019 (WAM) — Minister of State Zaki Nusseibeh took to Twitter this morning to express his delight at the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church, to the United Arab Emirates this evening, saying, “we are truly blessed to be able to witness soon a historic visit of monumental significance.”

In a video message posted on the social media site, the Minister added, “This is the first time His Holiness comes to this region bearing his universal message of compassion, charity and peace.”

Nusseibeh said that the Pontiff’s meetings with his royal hosts and with His Eminence Dr. Ahmad el-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar Al Sharif in Abu Dhabi “will witness the intensification of communal efforts at uniting mankind in a fraternity that bridges the widening cousins between religions, sects and races – an objective that embodies the core values of the United Arab Emirates as inherent in the legacy of our founder Sheikh Zayed.”

He concluded his message by saying, “Pope Francis’s blessings in this endeavour is desperately needed in a world that is witnessing more conflict and strife.”
