Applicants should have completed National Service and should be able to be able to produce valid documentation of completion / Exemption
This is a 3 year intensive program before you can begin working as a Reactor Operator. The program will commence in 2019. For the duration of the program you will be required to take multiple theory and practical exams and successful participants will begin work in 2022.
Conservatively manipulate plant controls to achieve a high level of safety and reliability of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plants (BNPP) in accordance with all operating procedures & policies, regulatory requirements, and nuclear, industrial, & environmental protection standards ensuring overall business performance objectives are achieved.
Assess plant conditions and at the direction of shift management, implement appropriate actions and controls of all activities affecting core reactivity to mitigate events and resolve issues.
Monitor Main Control Room indicating parameters and trends, updating the operating crew of adverse conditions, and taking prompt action if required to stabilize the plant.
Conduct a thorough round of all areas assigned within responsibilities at designated times to inspect that equipment is operating properly and standby equipment is fully capable of being operated.
Monitor and trend equipment performance to detect abnormal and adverse conditions, and communicate those trends to shift management.
Monitor plant response during refueling outage activities to ensure the core is responding as expected while moving fuel assemblies into and out of the vessel.
Direct Local Operators to perform plant manipulations outside the Main Control Room.
Monitor plant and crew performance on a day-to-day basis and perform periodic assessments to identify areas for improvement.
Conduct comprehensive reviews of written records, logs, equipment and control board information throughout the shift including turnovers.
Develop or implement equipment clearance orders in support of maintenance or testing.
Adhere to all plant procedure and policies, technical specification and regulatory requirements to achieve high level of safe and reliable operations.
Perform and attend pre-job briefings prior to plant activities including surveillances, maintenance activities/troubleshooting, special tests & infrequently performed evolutions.
Produce written records, logs, equipment and control board information throughout the shift including turnovers
Maintain continuous familiarity with plant operating instructions, noting any change or modification that is made in them as a result of design, plant status, or other requirements.
Perform additional technical or administrative tasks as directed by shift management.
Training and Qualification
Attend Initial and Requalification (Requal) training to obtain and maintain the required knowledge level, skills, and proficiency of a Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) Certified Reactor Operator.
Provide continuous improvement training feedback on program effectiveness.
Assess the need for additional training or modify existing training through the Curriculum Review Committee.
Facilitate internal and external communications to build mutually beneficial working relationships.

Follow all relevant company’s Health and Safety policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure Health and Safety compliance in all aspects of work per sound management practices by applying these Health and Safety policies and procedures to self and others to take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of people, or the environment, who are at the employee’s place of work who may be affected by the employees acts or omissions at work.
Follow all relevant Security policies, processes, procedures, and instructions to ensure security compliance in all aspects of work, by applying them on self, others and Corporate assets.
Ensure compliance with corporate requirements for adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to Crisis Management and Business Continuity in order to continue mission-critical activities.
Contribute to the development of UAE National employees in a manner, which supports the objectives of the corporation and its Emiratization strategy.
Contribute to knowledge dissemination/sharing in a way that assists with building internal capabilities of UAE Nationals where applicable and maximize their effective performance.
