BUCHAREST, 18th April, 2018 (WAM) — Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on Tuesday received Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Member of the UAE Cabinet and Minister of State, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 1st session of the UAE-Romanian Joint Committee, held in the Romanian capital of Bucharest.
Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber conveyed the greetings of the UAE leadership, government and people to the Romanian President, and the government and people of Romania, stressing the strong political, economic, trade and cultural relations between the two countries.
Both sides discussed bilateral relations between the UAE and Romania and means of enhancing them in various fields and several matters of mutual interest.
Later that day, Dr. Al Jaber met with the Prime Minister of Romania, Viorica Dancila, and discussed the close bilateral ties between the two friendly countries and means of enhancing them in various fields.
“Under the wise policy of our visionary leadership, the UAE and Romania have developed strong and growing bilateral relations, built on solid foundations and based on the principles of communication, cooperation, mutual respect and common interests in the political, economic, commercial and areas the horizons of cooperation between our two friendly countries across various sectors such as traditional and renewable energy sources, infrastructure, urban development, tourism, finance, culture, knowledge, agriculture, investment and others,” Al Jaber said.
The Romanian Prime Minister expressed her aspiration to bolster cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields and sectors, stressing the importance of these meetings and visits to exchange views and benefit from respective experiences, praising the great progress achieved by the UAE in various fields.
During a business lunch organised on the sidelines of the meeting, the PM lauded the initiatives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, that have led to the empowerment of Emirati women and enhanced their role in UAE society.
Also on the sidelines of this first Joint committee meeting, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber met with Liviu Dragnea, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania. During the meeting held at the Romanian Parliament, both sides discussed means of enhancing joint cooperation in all areas to establish a strategic partnership between the two countries.
