ABU DHABI, 13th March, 2019 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, SEHA, will be hosting the 8th International Radiology Conference on 15th March, at the Rosewood Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The two-day conference is a platform for specialists from around the world to share the latest medical and technological innovations used in the field of medical imaging.
The theme of the conference focuses on Artificial Intelligence, AI, in diagnostic radiology and provides a balanced scientific programme for consultants, residents and technicians. The conference is formally accredited by the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi for 14 continuous medical education points.
Dr. Saeed Yahya Alseiari, Consultant Cardiovascular Radiologist, Chairman of SEHA Radiology Council, and Chairman of the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, said, “SEHA is keen to enhance AI in Abu Dhabi through the implementation of training programmes and by adopting the latest world-class technology for its health services. Technology is developing rapidly; we can now analyse data and accurately diagnose a patient in record time through the use of AI. This provides patients with medical care quicker than ever.”
The conference gives the radiology residents an opportunity to share their ongoing scientific activities and some locally diagnosed complex cases with international experts. Participants will attend talks in multiple subspecialties like chest imaging, mammography, cardiac radiology, interventional radiology, musculoskeletal imaging, neuroradiology, pediatric radiology, and nuclear medicine.
For his part, Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Consultant Neuroradiologist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and Co-Chair of the conference, said, “Radiology is a vital specialty that needs constant development and modernization, especially in light of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. SEHA is currently looking into opportunities to utilize artificial intelligence in this sector.”

Sheikh Khalifa Medical City might be the only hospital in the UAE with consultants in all sub-specialties of radiology and has the only radiology residency programme in UAE accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-International. It also provides some unique imaging services like cardiac and fetal MRI.
