Sharjah Crown Prince attends third Arabic language conference

SHARJAH, 31st January, 2018 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, attended on Wednesday the third international conference themed “Teaching and Learning Arabic, Looking Towards the Future: Opportunities, Challenges”, at Al Qasimia University.

The event is being held under the patronage of the Ruler of Sharjah, and is organised by the Arabic Language Education Centre for the Gulf States in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Al Qasimia University.

Dr. Rashad Salem, the Vice Chancellor of Al Qasimia University, delivered a speech in which he thanked His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed, for his patronage and support for the development of the Arabic language.

Jameela Al Muheiri, Minister of State for Public Education, noted the efforts of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, to support the teaching and learning of the Arabic language for decades, pointing out Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed’s love of the language.

The conference will host a number of experts and academics during its sessions, which will continue until Thursday, to discuss the reality and future aspirations towards the development of the language, and the most important opportunities and challenges facing the future of teaching and learning Arabic.

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of officials and government representatives.
