Sharjah Crown Prince honours police academy team for winning self-defence championship

SHARJAH, 12th February, 2018 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Police Sciences Academy, on Monday honoured the sports academy team, which ranked first in the eighth championship of sporting events for colleges, institutes and self-defence, at the Academy.

The tournament was organised by the Police Sports Federation in the Ministry of Interior at the level of the Police General Command.

Sheikh Sultan congratulated the academy’s team on coming first in the championship due to the hard work of the team leaders.

He was greeted on his arrival by Brigadier General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, Colonel Dr. Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani, Director-General of Police Science Academy, and senior officers of Sharjah Police.

The Crown Prince of Sharjah was briefed about the achievements of the sports academy team in the championship. They won a number of prizes and cups, including the competition cup in karate, jiu-jitsu, archery and taekwondo, securing the first place in the overall tally. They came second in athletics and tug of war, besides winning several bronze, silver, and gold medals.

Major General Al Shamsi praised the achievements of the sports team, which ranked in the first place and won the shield of the Police Sports Federation Championship 2018.
