SHARJAH, 2nd March 2019 (WAM) – The Department of Government Relations, Sharjah,DGR, received a high-profile South Korean delegation featuring top diplomats, to discuss matters of bilateral interest and explore new areas of cooperation in existing and emerging sectors.
The delegation comprising Chun Young Wook, Consul–General of South Korea in the UAE; Park Heosoon, Consul, Her Jin Hyuk, Consul, Hyunju Nahm, vice-consul, Kyumin Kim, vice-consul and Sarah El Marsafy, Researcher and Diplomatic coordinator, visited the offices of several Sharjah government entities. They were accompanied on these visits by Sheikh Majed Al Qasimi, Director of DGR Sharjah, Sheikha Nawar Al Qasimi, Director of Development at Sharjah Art Foundation,SAF; and Manal Ataya, Director of Sharjah Museums Authority,SMA,.
The delegation’s understanding of Sharjah’s and the UAE’s rich history and Islamic cultural heritage were deepened with visits to the Sharjah Institute for Heritage and Department of Culture and Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization. The visits also encompassed Sharjah Art Foundation and the Heart of Sharjah historical restoration district, through which the light was shed on the emirate’s efforts to preserve and share their cultural heritage with the world.
Sheikh Majed Al Qasimi, Director of DGR Sharjah, noted that South Korean-Emirati relations have stood in good stead for several years, and the visit was planned to continue strongly on the path of mutual cooperation in various sectors.
Sheikh Majed Al Qasimi added: “We are pleased to organise a second South Korean delegation visit to Sharjah, which signifies yet another substantial step taken by both parties to meaningfully further our bilateral ties and historic partnerships, whose foundations were laid by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Through these efforts, we further the Sharjah Ruler’s commitment to building an integrated and sustainable socioeconomic infrastructure by adopting progressive and dynamic policies that will enable us to truly open up to the world. This vision is instrumental to Sharjah’s developmental strategy that seeks to encourage cooperation and attract more global expertise and knowledge to fuel growth.”
The Department of Government Relations was established in 2014 under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi to provide a window of cooperation to Sharjah’s international partners.
