‘Sheikh Zayed Centre in Beijing a bridge for cultural communication’: Amal Al Qubaisi

BEIJING, 7th November, 2018 (WAM) — Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC), praised the Sheikh Zayed Centre for Arabic Language and Islamic Studies at the Beijing Foreign Studies University, which is a bridge for cultural communication that strengthens the historic relations between two ancient civilisations, the Arab and Islamic civilisation and the Chinese civilisation.

During a lecture at the centre, Al Qubaisi highlighted the vision and foresight of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who realised the importance of language to promoting Arab civilisation, cooperation and communication.

Al Qubaisi, who is heading an official visit of an FNC delegation to China, noted that the centre, which carries the name of Sheikh Zayed, has become a key platform for enhancing the social and cultural communication between the Chinese people and all Arab peoples.

“We now realise, after many years, the vision and foresight of Sheikh Zayed, who established this pioneering centre during his historic visit to China in 1990, when he saw the future through a clear vision to prepare the centre as a bridge of cultural communication, to strengthen the historic relations between two ancient civilisations,” Al Qubaisi said.

She added that the centre embodies the moral principles of Sheikh Zayed, including the values of tolerance, love and coexistence.

“We are living, in the UAE, in the Year of Zayed, and China now has a scientific beacon established by Sheikh Zayed, which teaches us the most important lesson in our lives, that the mark of a leader is to work for the interest of the people and all of humanity and remain immortal. These accomplishments include intellectual, economic, urban and scientific development,” she added.

She also noted the growing relations between the UAE and China, which was advanced by the historic visit of Xi Jinping, President of China, to the UAE in July.

The president of the university welcomed Al Qubaisi and her delegation and added that her visit to the centre will promote communication and spread Arab and Islamic culture and the legacy of the UAE’s Founder, Sheikh Zayed, as well as the UAE’s efforts to communicate with the world’s peoples.
