Show Emirates ID to get SMS token at Dubai Municipality centres

Dubai: Dubai Municipality will start implementing from next week a new system that allows the customer to use the Emirates ID card to obtain the token for doing transactions at its offices.

To start with, the system will be implemented at the municipality’s Al Kifaf and Hatta centres and will include the rest of the centres in future, the civic body said in a press release on Thursday.

These tokens can be used for all services provided by the centres, including the services for partners and private entities.

“Upon showing the Emirates ID card on the token-vending machine, the customer will receive a text message on the mobile phone showing the token number as per the customer waiting list,” said Noora Al Sawalhi, head of Al Kifaf Centre.

She said the application will contribute to the database of the centre’s customers, which will support in understanding their preferences, needs and expectations.

“There will be a unified identification number for all customers using which their classification can be done through the system. In addition to that, the system will contribute to saving consumption of paper for tokens given to the customers to know their waiting numbers,” said Al Sawalhi.

She explained that the system of using the Emirates ID card will allow the municipality’s employee to know all details related to the customer such as name, age, nationality and other information, which at the same time supports the security system in the centre.

“The implementation of the system will be a support to the municipality centres for the “7-Star system” launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to classify the level of service organisations in the government sector,” said Al Sawalhi.
