Sky News Arabia champions inclusion ahead of opening of Special Olympics World Games

ABU DHABI, 4th March, 2019 (WAM) — Sky News Arabia is putting People of Determination (people with disabilities) at the heart of their coverage of Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 and will be supporting new initiatives to support employment opportunities for those with disabilities.

The event is taking place for the first time in the Middle East, from 27th February to 21st March, with Sky News Arabia, an official media partner of the Games, providing coverage on all its platforms, including TV, Radio, Online, and Social media. The channel plans a special live broadcast on 13th March as the Torch Run comes to Sky News Arabia studios. It will also broadcast live from the main sports venue, Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC, where 10 different sports will be taking place between 14 and 21 March.

At ADNEC, Sky News Arabia will also offer media training to People of Determination, coaching young people with intellectual disability in camera operation, lighting and presenting as part of an initiative to give more opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities. The channel’s annual internship programme will also be expanded to offer training for people of determination.

Sky News Arabia will also run daily social media contests, with the best Special Olympics images and comments posted online being given the chance to be included in the station’s coverage.
