SPCFZ, Italian publishers hold discussions at Turin International Book Fair

TURIN, Italy, 14th May, 2019 (WAM) — The Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone, SPCFZ, a Sharjah Book Authority subsidiary, visited more than 60 stands at the Turin International Book Fair, TIBF 2019, fair to network with publishers and showcase business opportunities.

At TIFF, one of Italy’s leading literary events, publishers were introduced to Sharjah’s attractive free zone business environment, which allows 100 percent ownership to foreign businesses, fully-equipped office spaces, and a cache of services including printing, licencing and distribution.

The free zone officials met with affordable books dealers to discuss ways to bring more reasonably-priced books to readers. Rotolito Graphic Industries, one of the largest printing groups in Italy, has shown interest in establishing a business in Sharjah. They also discussed ways in which Rotolito can expand its printing business into the MENA region and Africa, with Sharjah as a regional operational hub.

SPCFZ also met with Milan-based publisher, White Star, to discuss the potential and possibilities of opening a branch in Sharjah’s free zone. Their CEO will be visiting SPCFZ later this month.

The free zone officials also met with Global Italia Publishers, who were apprised of the benefits of having branch offices at the SPCFZ, and the advantage of participating in the Sharjah International Book Fair.

Salim Omar Salim, Director, SPCFZ, said, “Turin offered us a vibrant platform to connect with potential opportunities in the Italian and European markets. We had several positive discussions since we arrived here, and will continue to meet more publishing representatives. SPCFZ is an asset not just to the UAE or our region, but also to the global publishing and printing industry. SPCFZ is a centralised business hub that caters to all industry needs without exception. Write, design, publish, print, store, and distribute – locally and worldwide – all from one single, purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility.”

“After Turin, the emirate will participate in the Madrid and Moscow book fairs this year, followed by London and Bologna in 2020. We look forward to capitalising on all the business networking opportunities these prestigious events will offer SPCFZ,” Mohamed Noor Hersi, Consultant, SPCFZ, added.
