Speaker of US House of Representatives visits Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

ABU DHABI, 26th January, 2018 (WAM) — Paul Ryan, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, currently visiting the UAE, today had a tour of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

The US speaker went inside the mosque’s main hall to learn about the building’s architecture, design and carpet, from specialists in Islamic architecture.

He had a walk around the courtyard to learn more about the distinctive floral design as the call to prayer echoed around the grand setting was followed by guests meeting from different faiths and nationalities, conveying a message from the UAE to the entire world on peaceful co-existence and interfaith tolerance.

Wrapping up the visit, the top official was given a copy of the book ‘Spaces of Light’, one of the publications of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, which includes a number of shots and pictures of the award ‘Spaces of Light Photography’, organised by the centre annually, to shed light on the aesthetics of the Islamic architecture amply used in the mosque.
