‘Suhoorhm Alina Initiative’ distributes 1,200 daily meals in Dubai

DUBAI, 27th May, 2018 (WAM) — At the start of Ramadan, the “Suhoorhm Alina Initiative” was launched by the Youth Council of the Community Development Authority, CDA, in Dubai for the second consecutive year, with the aim of encouraging the youth and volunteers to participate in charity initiatives, in line with the spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan and to serve underprivileged communities.

The initiative is distributing over 1,200 daily Suhoor meals at locations throughout Dubai, in line with the principles of the Year of Zayed and to promote giving and charity.

The council highlighted the desire of government, private institutions and individuals to participate in its activities, especially in its current programme that covers six areas of Dubai, including Al Bada, Al Jafilia, Warsan, Al Rashidiya, Al Khawaneej and Muhaisnah, on a weekly basis, as well as Al Quoz, where the initiative is being held during the evenings of Ramadan.

Over 50 volunteers are receiving meals and food from the participating authorities, including Sadia, the Food Bank, Al Shalal Water, Al Rawabi and Almarai, who deliver the meals to beneficiaries. WiFi UAE is also providing free internet services at all distribution locations, which has helped in registering volunteers and has assisted those receiving assistance.

Halima Mohammed, Head of the Youth Council of the CDA, stated that the aim of the initiative is to become more organised and involve more participants and beneficiaries.

“Indeed, today we have witnessed, after the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan, greater demand from authorities and individuals to support the initiative and participate in it, whether through providing material support or volunteering to serve its beneficiaries,” Mohammed added.
