Sultan Al Qasimi issues Decrees establishing Sharjah Districts Councils

SHARJAH, 13th February, 2018 (WAM) — H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued four Emiri Decrees creating the Sharjah Districts Councils.

The Emiri Decree No. 15 of 2018 stipulates the formation of the Mughaidir District Council, with the membership of seven board members.


The Emiri Decree No. 16 of 2018 stipulates the formation of the Muwaileh District Council, with the membership of seven board members.

The Emiri Decree No. 17 of 2018 stipulates the formation of Al Zabbara District Council in KhorFakkan, with the membership of seven board members.

The Emiri Decree No. 18 of 2018 stipulates the formation of the Wasit District Council, with the membership of seven board members.

The Councils shall elect a Chairman and Vice-Chairman from among its members at its first meeting by consensus or by direct secret ballot, and the term of office for each council shall be determined by the executive regulations of the Department of Districts and Villages Affairs.

Pursuant to Article No. 03 of Emiri Decrees Nos. 15, 16, 17, and 18 of 2018, the term of memberships will be four years starting from the date of its first meeting. The Councils’ boards should fulfil their roles up until the end of their terms, or until a new board has been appointed, with the possibility of renewal of the board’s term.

The Decrees shall be effective from the date of their issuance where competent authorities are to implement its provisions, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
