ATHENS, 9th April, 2018 (WAM) — Zayed University (ZU) has launched a workshop to teach tailoring skills to Syrian refugees at the Ritsona and Larissa refugee camps in Greece, as part of the ‘Year of Zayed’, 2018.

The initiative is part of an ongoing support led by Zayed University students to support Syrian refugees in various countries.

Women refugees were provided with sewing machines and tailoring accessories and taught sewing skills, helping them to provide clothing for themselves and their families.

ZU students raised generous funds to purchase and transfer items for the workshop through a donation campaign in both the university’s Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses.

The event was held in the presence of Prof. Reyadh Almehaideb, Zayed University Vice-President, alongside Andreas Gogolis, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Migration Policy in Greece, and a number of UAE and Greek officials.
