UAE Ambassador opens International Arabic Language Festival in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, 23rd April, 2018 (WAM) — Khalid Ghanem Al Ghaith, UAE Ambassador to Malaysia, opened the 4th International Arabic Language Festival (MAHRAJAN), organised by the the University of Malaya (UM) under the patronage of the UAE Embassy in Malaysia as part of the Year of Zayed activities.

Professor Zulkifli Bin Mohd Yusoff, Director of the Academy of Islamic Studies, and number of Arab ambassadors and cultural and military attaches attended the event.

In his opening address, Al Ghaith spoke about the UAE’s commitment to promoting and protecting the Arabic language locally, regionally and internationally through a series of initiatives and awards.

He said the UAE Vision 2021 seeks to establish the UAE as a centre of excellence for Arabic language.

Professor Zulkifli thanked the UAE embassy for its patronage and support for such events.

The Festival features poetry and public speaking competitions and debates.

The UAE is also participating in the exhibition being held on the sidelines of the Festival.
