UAE, Angola keen on enhancing relations

LUANDA, 7th December, 2017 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, has emphasised that the UAE-Angolan relations are strong and distinguished at all avenues, stressing that the country’s wise leadership pays attention to enhance co-operation between the two countries, especially in the economic, investment and trade domains.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan said that his visit to Angola is seen in the framework of communicating with friendly countries to boost co-operation between them and the UAE.

The remarks came when Sheikh Hamdan held a discussion session today in Luanda with a number of ministers and top Angolan officials on the sidelines of his current visit to Angola.

Sheikh Hamdan noted that during his meetings with the ministers, he listened to their views on all investment sectors and the common interests of both countries. He, and his accompanying delegation, thanked the leadership and the government of Angola for the warm welcome and hospitality.

They wished that the visit would contribute to developing and enhancing friendship and co-operation prospects to higher levels. They expressed mutual willingness to open up new channels of co-operation in all fields, especially in the economic, investment, minerals, renewable energy, transport, port and airport management sectors as well as investment in agriculture for the benefit of the two countries.

They also highlighted the importance of the contributions of the government, private sectors and businesspersons to boosting economic and investment ties as well as supporting bonds of co-operation between the UAE and Angola.

The parties underlined the importance of following up on the fruitful outcome of this meeting to enhance bilateral relations and develop co-operation between the government and private sector to build sustainable partnerships gleaned from the vision of the two leaders.

At the end of the session, they emphasised the importance of exchanging visits and delegations to learn about available opportunities and enhance communications and bilateral relations.

The meeting was attended by UAE Ambassador to Angola, Khalid Salem bin Ghleidha, Sultan bin Khalfan Al Romaithi, Under-Secretary of the Court of the Ruler’s Representative’s in Al Dhafra Region, and a number of Angolan officials, including the Angolan Ambassador to the UAE, Flavio Saraiva de Carvalho Fonseca.
