ABU DHABI, 24th July, 2018 (WAM) — Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, expressed her happiness at the success of UAE-China Week, which concluded today at Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi.

The event drew considerable public attention and was an opportunity to introduce visitors to Chinese and Emirati cultures, through diverse heritage, artistic and cultural activities.

Al Kaabi stressed that the week is a pivotal turning point in the cultural relations between the UAE and China, as well as promoted cultural interactions between intellectuals and artists from both countries, opened new prospects for cooperation between the Emirati and Chinese cultural and creative communities, and created a common ground to integrate their cultures through mutual familiarisation and contact between writers and creatives. It also enables the public from both communities and all walks of life to communicate, she added.

Al Kaabi stressed that the week launched a new era of cultural cooperation between both countries, established the foundations of arts and culture, and created a closeness between their peoples. “Through openness to China, which we have strong ties with, we can build bridges of cooperation and exchange expertise, to ensure our growth and prosperity,” she further added.

Al Kaabi affirmed that the week was a meeting point and an intellectual platform, and established a new era of cultural and artistic cooperation while expressing that she is looking forward to holding the next UAE-China Week in the following year, in cooperation with Chinese cultural authorities, which will reflect the cultural links between the two countries and will introduce the Chinese public to the UAE’s heritage, culture and civilisation, based on the belief that culture is key to civilised dialogue and interactions, and spreads the values of goodness and beauty.
