UAE participates in 50th session of UN Statistical Commission

NEW YORK, 6th March, 2019 (WAM) — The UAE is taking part in the 50th session of the UN Statistical Commission from 5th to 8th March at the UN headquarters.

The agenda of this session includes several important topics related to data and indicators on the goals of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030, and to measure the progress achieved and the preparation of relevant national and international reports.

In his remarks during the meeting, Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Director General of Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA) reviewed the importance of statistics and data and their impact on the people’s daily life.

Lootah, who is also the vice-chair of the UAE’s National Committeeand, emphasised the importance of the role played by data and the need for striking a balance between consumption and production.
